A prayer of thankfulness for how Jesus made me —
Thank you, J, for my brown eyes and all they have seen. They have seen the sky above the clouds at sunset. They have seen brownies baking in the oven. They have seen the face of somebody who loves me. And they will one day see You.
Thank you, J, for my sassy mouth. For it has told so many stories, it has said “I love you” to just the right people, it has fought me through hard conversations. It has spoken truth! It has begged for forgiveness! It has sung words of worship and words of silly songs with friends!
Thank you, J, for my capable arms. They have carried beautiful books from a bookshelf to be read. They can do push-ups and swim laps and lift weights. They have held the people I love!
Thank you, J, for my tiny hands. Their fingers have been painted the prettiest of pinks. They wear diamonds and jewels. They pet puppies and flip through newspapers. They type stories and hold the hands of my people.
Thank you, J, for my soft tummy!! I am thankful for those nights I feel warm and full inside. Those sweet treats I don’t regret. I am thankful I have a life that doesn’t leave me hungry.
Thank you, J, for my strong legs, my ankles, my feet. They have gotten me out of bed when I didn’t think I could. They have carried me through miles and miles of trails and sidewalks. They have walked me through the dreamiest places.
Thank you, J, for my quick mind. For all those anxious thoughts of doubt and confusion, You use those moments to bring Your clarity. For all those sweet thoughts of big dreams, stories to write, acts of kindness, they come from You. They are proof that there is a higher being that leads us to love with both our heart and our mind and our soul.
Thank you, J, for my perfect body, for You, my King, are enthralled by my beauty!! (Psalm 45:11)
